The essential Copenhagen city guide

The must-see spots in the Danish capital

Kay Litzinger, Senior Communications Manager

We often meet people – new and returning customers alike – who stop by our central Copenhagen store asking where to eat, drink, and experience the best of the city. So we thought: why not share our own guide to the place we’re proud to call home?

Here’s a curated selection of our favorite spots in Copenhagen, some run by friends of the SON brand, all reflecting the same sense of quality, craft, and modern Danish style. You’ll find them below, and on a handy Google Map here. Hop on a bike and get exploring.

Eat & Drink

Lille Fugl

Gammel Strand 48, 1202 København.

A small, unassuming but delicious café serving Danish brunch fare in a beautiful canal-side spot.

Hart Bageri

Gammel Kongevej 109, 1850 Frederiksberg

The first and still the best – visit the original Hart bakery location for exquisite takes on the Danish pastry. You can find other Harts throughout the city.

Schønnemann

Hauser Plads 16, 1127 København

A Copenhagen institution serving traditional smørrebrød – open sandwiches crafted with heritage and heart.

Sonny

Frederiksberg Allé 12, 1820 Frederiksberg

One of Copenhagen’s most reliable brunch spots – calm, precise, and quietly stylish. Come for the flat white and halloumi plate, stay for the warm neighbourhood energy. Visit this charming outpost in Frederiksberg or their inner-city location.

Admiralgade 26

Admiralgade 26, 1066 København

Danish classics with a Japanese twist, served in an elevated yet welcoming setting.

Ved Stranden 10

Ved Stranden 10, 1061 København

Copenhagen is spoilt for great wine bars, but the canal-side setting and mid-century Danish furniture make this one the pick of the bunch.

Amator

Nordre Frihavnsgade 7, 2100 København

In the leafy neighborhood of Østerbro, you find Amator. Here, our friend, owner Matti, and his team serve up delicious brunch made from carefully sourced ingredients accompanied by music from a curated vinyl collection, all in a charming, convivial setting. Don't miss out on the famed omelette and lemon tart.

Epicurus

Rosenborggade 15, 1130 København

Part restaurant, part live jazz venue, Epicurus blends Greek-inspired elegance with modern craftsmanship inside a historic setting.

Palæ Bar

Ny Adelgade 5, 1104 København

A low-key pub in the city center with deep roots in Copenhagen’s 1950s-70s jazz scene that combines the down-to-earth charm of traditional Danish bodegas with an, at times, well-heeled urban clientele. Particularly popular during Copenhagen's 3 Days of Design.

bird

Palægade 8, 1261 København

By day it’s a bright café; by night, one of the city’s best cocktail bars. Drop by for a tipple, or visit their sister spot in Frederiksberg.

Bottega Barlie

Fredericiagade 78, 1310 København

Casual Mediterranean small plates and brunch in one of the city center’s most charming corners.

Café Stjernen

A former “brown bar” bodega that’s been transformed into a thriving local favorite for both regulars and in-the-know Copenhagen guests.

akme

Sandkaj 39, 2150 København

An offshoot of the Michelin-starred Sushi Anaba, akmē brings a creative energy to the relatively new and upscale neighborhood, Nordhavn. The intimate counter setting offers a Japanese-French omakase menu that keeps you guessing and leaves you nourished. The beautiful space was designed by SON collaborator Thomas Lykke (more on that here).
